HUNTER: There is so much need in the world. Everywhere you look, everywhere you listen, there are the hungry, the oppressed and the downtrodden. Because these groups are so visible, entrepreneurs can easily identify the problem and tackle these issues head-on. While this is wonderful—and necessary, I can’t help but wonder about the other people who are in need of assistance. I mean the ones whose needs are not so visible to the naked eye. They may have clothes on their backs and food to eat, yet their minds are barren of ways to lift themselves up out of their financial or social situation. What do we do about them? With this question in mind, I chose to focus this film on the life of W.C. Hunter, who came from humble beginnings like the majority of people in this world, and who used the resources God gave him to lift himself up to a better place. When I heard him speak the words, “Between these two ears is an undiscovered continent,” I was moved into action. I had never thought about the true potential of the human mind until I heard him speak, and those words inspired me to venture out in many entrepreneurial directions. To this day, when I am discouraged because an idea has faltered—or crashed and burned, those words keep me going. When I learned about this film competition, I couldn’t resist the urge to share this entrepreneur’s life and philosophy with others. But all I had was a script; I needed someone with vision and ability who could help me take it to the next level. So I went to a very talented emerging filmmaker and director, Adrienne Moss: ondarise@comcast.net, and asked her to work with me to bring the film to the screen.
